Working with Ministry of Villas, I have seen many outstanding villas during my time, but Celadon is the icing on the cake. It is pure class, elegance and architectural perfection all rolled into one… just pause a moment and take it all in.
Hopping into the car at the Koh Samui International airport, I couldn’t contain my excitement: I was going to be staying at the acclaimed Celadon! I’ve seen many beautiful images of the villa and I was fully aware that it was epitome of modern tropical living. Getting to the villa was a little bit of a challenge: the opportunity cost you pay for an absolutely stunning view is a very, very steep hill. But nothing good ever comes easy! I’d suggest that if you’re planning on staying here, hire a driver or four-wheel drive. There is little signage to indicate where Celadon is – so not that you have to turn left at Bang Por Soi 1 and then look out for ‘Private Road’. Turn left and there’s your lovely that hill awaits your climb. And the reward at the top of the mountain is the white villa – Celadon.
Living the luxe life at Celadon
Stepping into the villa and you will be awestruck. The view heightens your experience of being at the top of the world, seamlessly working in tandem with its surrounding natural scenery. As you stand at its doorways, you’ll be forgiven if you thought that you were floating on the open sea: the pool seems to be balancing on the top of ocean view, and so does the living room.
No prizes for guessing where I spent most of my days… the completely absorbing sunken couch. The outside tropical heat did not seem to get effect this part of the villa in the sunken living room. It was a cool and relaxing space where I could stretch out and rest my eyes, or by take a break from the laptop by looking across at the breath-taking horizon. What could be better than this?
Given its room configurations (five rooms with bunks) it is perfect for two families with children travelling together.
Celadon has something for everyone. The pool area is where you and your entourage will spend a majority of your time – taking a dip in the tantalising pool before moseying over to the large dining table for a wonderful home-cooked meal by the staff. If the kids want activity, engage them in some board games provided by the villa. In the evenings, after watching the stunning sunset that greets you nightly, gather everyone in the (wickedly comfortable!) media room to screen the latest blockbuster hits.
There are also lots of dining options around the area that the willing staff can organise as well. If you’re looking for some great Thai food, there are a few, just a stone’s throw away. There are also many seafood restaurant options to choose from along the road.
