The Sanyas Suites is one of the reasons why you will fall in love with Petitenget. It is right smack in the middle of the action so in a matter of minutes you can walk from your villa and be relishing a sundown cocktail at the W or Potato Head, watching the magnificent Balinese sunset. Chilling poolside in your villa, or outside amongst the tourist attractions, you could not wish for more.

It was Sara and I, two girls, who were staying at The Sanyas Suites and we felt so safe. There were shops all around and with the 24-hour security we couldn’t have felt more comfortable. It is also a shopping haven, for both foodies and fashionistas alike. You are spoilt for choice when it comes to picking your daily meal: Biku for some carrot cake and coffee? Local favourite Warung Sulawesi or the revered dry-cured meat burgers at The Butchers Club for lunch? Or do you need a new dress for the dinner party? Not a problem for the streets all around is teeming with new boutique designer stores.

A warm welcome at The Sanyas Suites

We were greeted by the lovely staff upon our arrival with a very refreshing drink. After which, they brought us to our villa and we were surprised about how big they were! The manager showed us around and explained to us how to use the TV and DVD players, where we could store our clothes (massive wardrobes in the bathrooms!) as well as general points to note such as the staff making the rooms for you and the gardeners fogging and manicuring the garden daily and so on.

A peaceful slumber

Both bedrooms came with four poster double beds with drapes that double-as mosquito nets. It had a study table and a day bed which I adored – I spent my mornings checking my emails and Skyping my family on the table and lay on the day bed reading during the hot afternoons. The rooms faced the pool and so the sound of the rippling water was very soothing during bedtime.

The bathrooms were the icing to the cake! They were MASSIVE. There was a dressing table, a wash basin, a large bathtub, an indoor shower, and outdoor shower, a toilet area as well as large wardrobes. It was fit for a King! I particularly adored it because you had your space to brush your teeth and then wander over to the other dry counter section to apply makeup. The indoor shower was also a reprieve in case you prefer the modern over traditional style (or get worried about friendly insects paying me a visit while having a shower at night)!

Sustenance for the day

The staff will take your order for breakfast the night before and you can make the choice between Indonesian or American. I had a simple delish serving of scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit and coffee.

They also have an in-house menu where you can choose larger meals for lunch and dinner, including spring rolls, noodles and beef rending, etc.

The Locale

Sara and I took long walks down Petitenget and were intrigued by all the variety of the shops in the vicinity. Turn left and you will hit Pepitos which is the supermarket you will have been looking for to get the best supplies in Bali for your holiday clan – good cheese, wine and other bites. Next door, you have the famous Merah Putih fine dining restaurant, Warung Eropa that is known for its crispy duck (we’d also recommend the Soto Ayam) or Warung Sulawesi which has generous servings of local (and spicy!) Javanese meals for a very decent price. If you’re craving good coffee, then Pison (a 7-minute walk) will satisfy your coffee-addicted soul. Dedy laundry that is right opposite Pison comes highly recommended and trustworthy if you’re here for a long stay and are in need to get your clothes washed.

If you turn right, you’re en route to the W, Potato Head, Biku, Mint or Shanghai Baby within a matter of minutes. If you’re looking instead to escape the noise and avoid people for a quiet sundown drink, then the Luna Rooftop Bar that is next door would do you good. After which saunter over to The Butchers Club, known for its burgers and fabulous happy hour to fill that hungry tummy before heading back to The Sanyas Suites.

The Sanyas Suites is incredible value for your Bali holiday. If you’re travelling with friends or family and are looking to get into the thick of what the Island of the Gods has to offer then this should be your first choice. We’ll definitely be back again!
