Nestled amid silver birch trees and Niseko’s famous snow, Hiiragi is a gorgeous modern chalet positioned on the outskirts of Annupuri ski resort. Staying at this elegant country retreat felt like a balm to the soul.
Cosy Nights & Pink Sunsets
This four-bedroom modern chalet is all about comfort and style and we were immediately struck by its fresh modern design. The lounge area is nice and spacious with enough room for a bigger group, and we loved having the dining area in the same space too – it was the perfect setup for the nights when we felt like staying in.
While the villa is positioned quite close to the road, we could hardly hear any people or cars going past at all – the villa is simply built that well. The living room has huge windows and we enjoyed beautiful vistas looking out to Mount Yotei and some gorgeous pink sunsets.
Substance & Style
Light, modern and airy – those are the three words that best describe Hiiragi. We were particularly impressed by the great use of space which made the villa feel even larger than its 300+ square metres. From the living room to the bedrooms and even the bathrooms, every space felt nice and roomy, and we never once felt cramped.
Of course, what separates a good villa from a great one are the details. Hiiragi’s kitchen with its Gaggenau appliances and myriad of gadgets is a perfect example of this.
Four Huge Bedrooms!
We loved how big the bedrooms were, and the three(!) bathtubs were divine. We think the setup is particularly well suited for two families travelling together – there’s even a bunk room for the kids.
With two bedrooms on the ground floor and two upstairs, parents can have the privacy they need while also keeping the kids close by.
A Serene Stay in Annupuri
Hiiragi sits on the outskirts of Niseko Annupuri, the quietest of the four ski resorts that make up Niseko United. This means that the lines to the lifts are much shorter than in, say, buzzy Hirafu.
Because of its distance from the crowds, Hiiragi offers a wonderful sense of privacy and serenity. We were smitten with the views: mighty Mount Yotei framed by the bucolic countryside. As it’s not positioned right by the lifts and buzziest restaurants, this chalet also represents great value for money.
On the flipside, while the Annupuri Gondola is not far (we drove over in about four minutes), you do need wheels to get around. If you feel confident to drive in the snow and hold an international driver’s licence, this might just be the villa for you – they even have a secure double garage ready and waiting.
Heading back to the villa, we could just beep ourselves straight into the garage and then enter the villa through a lovely big ski room. The whole setup felt exceptionally convenient – they’ve really thought of everything here.
