There are two irresistible sides to Bali. On the one hand, we never tire of the island’s vibrant energy: visiting new restaurants, hopping from one beach club to the next, and perusing chic boutiques. On the other hand, we also love the island’s blissfully relaxing and serene tropical feel. That’s why we’re excited to tell you more about a villa that captures the best of both worlds. Welcome to Villa De Suma in Seminyak.
A Gem in the Heart of the Action
Villa De Suma is located on Jalan Laksmana in Seminyak. This is a very exclusive and peaceful lane right in the heart of Seminyak and just a five-minute walk from the beach. Because it’s so central yet remarkably peaceful, it’s one of our favourite addresses in all of Bali. Villa De Suma is positioned right at the end of this cul-de-sac, so the villa feels particularly serene. It’s like your very own oasis in Seminyak.
Opulent Design
As we arrived, we were taken aback by the grandeur of the villa. It’s such a cliché but the photos really don’t do it justice! The furniture is deliciously opulent, and the villa is filled with beautiful antiques. All the materials have been chosen with fastidious care, from the mattresses to the sheets and from the bathrobes to the towels. Talk about staying in the lap of luxury!
Beautiful Balinese Hospitality
While Bali is famed for its warm hospitality, Villa De Suma still exceeded our expectations. From the moment the team first greeted us with beautiful welcome drinks, we could feel a caring energy simply radiating from them – absolutely nothing was too much trouble. Each morning, we were given a lovely breakfast. Enjoying this delicious spread by the pool was a perfect way to start the day.
Four Equally Elegant Bedrooms
Villa De Suma has four bedrooms, all of them equally gorgeous. This is perfect for groups that want everyone to feel looked after as no one has to settle for a lesser room.
While we were tempted by the gorgeous baths in the upstairs bedrooms, we ended up staying in one of the rooms located right by the pool. We loved the “infinity” effect in our room: when lying in bed with the curtains open, the pool appears to come up and caress the bedroom door. This gave our room a really cool tropical feel.
Walking Distance to Everything
If, like us, you like to explore your surroundings on foot, you’ll love staying at Villa De Suma. During our stay, we went out and did long walks around Seminyak. We strolled up Jalan Laksmana; another time, we did a lovely long walk along Jalan Petitenget and came back along the beach.
One night, we had dinner at La Lucciola, an Italian restaurant set right on the beach. As this is easily our all-time favourite restaurant in Seminyak, we loved staying within such a short walk. Another day we had a fantastic lunch at the ever-popular Sea Circus which is also less than a five-minute walk from the villa.
With shops and restaurants all waiting on your doorstep, Villa De Suma really is a walker’s paradise. When you head out from the villa, you’re walking out of a very safe and guarded lane and then straight on to footpaths in both directions – not always the case in Bali!
While Jalan Kayu Aya used to be the epicentre of the action, we now think the shopping and dining are actually better walking up Jalan Petitenget. Again, what’s great about staying at Villa De Suma is that you can easily sample both streets and then choose your own favourite.
