We’ll just come right out and say it: The Luxe Bali is one of the most incredible villas in Bali. Built on the cliffs over Padang Padang Beach, the owner spent several years building the luxury villa with an attention to detail that’s second to none. Staying here felt like a rare privilege.
It’s All in the Details
Upon arrival at The Luxe Bali, the staff instructed us to remove our shoes and to not wear any hard soled shoes throughout the property. We were all too happy to oblige: all the floors are a beautiful, waxed timber which feels incredibly soft and luxurious under your feet, with Persian carpets splayed throughout. This attention to detail extends to every aspect of the villa. Every item is either a one-off masterpiece or an antique, and the array of expertly chosen materials work together as a symphony.
This tactile luxury is woven into every aspect of the villa… including its water pipes. The property has a 500,000-litre water tank which collects rainwater from the roofs, with a water filtration system to complete the setup. This means all the water from every tap in the villa is safe to drink. More importantly, the water has a lusciousness that few villas in Bali possess – you can feel the difference when showering or taking a bath.
Six-Star Service
While the design of the villa is impressive, as always, it’s the service that really takes the property to the next level. That the villa has butlers to look after your every need and housekeepers to keep the place looking immaculate goes without saying. But there’s more – oh, so much more.
The villa’s chef is very experienced and creative. All our meals were both incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. Even our daily breakfast felt like a feast!
After enjoying our meals in the beautiful dining room, we liked to head up to the villa’s top balcony. As we sipped our digestifs, we watched as the sun went down, and surfers chased their final waves before paddling back in. It was magical to listen as our surroundings transitioned from frenetic daytime activity to a mellow nighttime rhythm. Before too long, the only sounds we could hear were the waves crashing in and the distant songs of temple ceremonies.
If that doesn’t sound relaxing enough, the villa also has its own spa therapists on staff. Trained in the Mediterranean, these wellness wizards offer massages and spa treatments that’ll wash away all your worldly worries and leave you feeling completely blissed out. Only the very best will do at The Luxe Bali.
Lights, Camera, Entertainment!
Even though the villa sits on the doorstep of Bali’s best surf breaks, The Luxe Bali is fully loaded with in-house entertainment.
After a stint in the private gym (which also has large mats perfect for practicing martial arts or yoga), you can enjoy a massage in the spa room followed by a visit to the sauna. Again, it’s all in the details: the sauna features Canadian redwood cedar known for its pleasing aroma.
Still, our favourite place to unwind was the villa’s private cinema. Fitted with reclining leather seats, the room features a huge projector screen and a 7.1 surround sound system. Safe to say it took our movie nights to a whole new level!
Bedrooms & Bathrooms – Exceptional Design Details
The Luxe Bali has four bedrooms. All of them are enormous and nothing short of wonderful. Besides sumptuous king-sized beds (complete with Masterpiece mattresses and Frette linens), each room has its own lounge area. As we were six people staying, it was great to have this opportunity to spread out and do our own thing when we felt like it.
The beautiful ensuite bathrooms were again designed with a near eery attention to detail. As already mentioned, the tap water is filtered rainwater which makes it feel particularly lush and luxe. What’s more, you never have to wait around for hot water as the villa has an insulated hot water loop similar to a large hotel. This means hot water is always immediately available. Remarkably, you don’t have to wait for your bath to fill up either thanks to the oversized Kohler ceramic valve faucets installed in the bathtubs.
As you can see, The Luxe Bali really lives up to its name!
Surfer’s Paradise
The villa sits on the cliffs of Padang Padang overlooking three surf breaks: Padang Padang, Impossibles and Bingin. This means you get great visibility to all surf conditions in one of the best and most popular surfing areas on the island. That the owner is a surfing aficionado is hardly surprising.
And it’s not just that the villa provides amazing views of the surf breaks – it also ensures enviable access. There’s a little track that takes you from the villa down to the cliffs and all the way to the water’s edge. As the villa sits closer to where the waves start breaking, surfers staying in the villa get a 200-metre head start compared to those that are paddling out from the beach.
Surrounds: From Padang Padang to Bingin
It definitely took some convincing, but eventually we were able to tear ourselves away from the villa long enough to check out our surroundings. It was fascinating to witness one of the fastest growing regions of Bali right now.
Feeling ambitious, we took a walk from the villa all the way to Bingin and found the whole area buzzing with activity. We dined at a great Mexican restaurant and checked out a whole slew of homeware and clothing boutiques that had sprung up along the way. The whole stretch from Bingin to Padang Padang presented a real feast for the eyes – and a workout for your credit card! That same buzz extends to the other direction too, heading from the villa all the way to Uluwatu. There’s a small gap in between which we think will be filled in very soon.
Returning to the villa, The Luxe Bali felt wonderfully removed from its buzzy surroundings. Because The Luxe Bali and its two neighbouring villas were built years ago, they are very safely and securely nestled in their environment, enveloped in their beautiful gardens. It felt like our private cocoon of luxury.
