Now, we’ve discovered the perfect villa for having a good time in this trendy district, even on the nights when you don’t feel like heading out on the town. Welcome to Villa Ashoka!
Awesome Architecture
Villa Ashoka’s bold modern frame stands out amid Bali’s tropical greenery. The villa is built in the shape of a capital letter A, with two wings darting out on either side. With the upper floor perched on stilts, the all-white villa seems to channel Le Corbusier’s iconic Villa Savoye.
Inside, the villa centres around the lounge which is crowned with a double-height vaulted ceiling. All in all, the villa is quite an architectural marvel, offering an inspiring mix of modern features and traditional Balinese elements.
Best Way to Start the Day
Villa Ashoka is managed by a very capable team. The villa has a chef and butler on staff, plus security guards for that added peace of mind.
The rates include breakfast daily for all guests. We’re happy to report that the breakfast was very yummy! The gorgeous spread was served out on the deck, looking over the pool and garden. It was a very relaxing way to start the day.
Perusing Pererenan
The villa is located in Pererenan, an up and coming neighbourhood just up the coast from trendy Canggu – you can read more about the scene in Pererenan here. The villa is surrounded by greenery in a more quiet area which is perfect for when you just want to sit back, relax and enjoy yourself, away from the noise and traffic.
At the same time, it’s just a short drive from all the must-see spots in Canggu so it’s easy to head out for adventures whenever you feel like it. The closest restaurants are about 400 metres away and Pererenan Beach is just a quick five-minute drive from the villa.
Epic Entertainment
While the surrounding area has beach clubs and extreme swings to entice you, we’d argue that the best fun to be had is at the villa itself. The L-shaped swimming pool is great – but what lies beneath is even cooler.
Hidden from prying eyes, Villa Ashoka’s subterranean games room is all about having a good time. The room features a pool table and some extra features that are just for fun: a rope ladder which disappears into a trapdoor and a window that looks straight into the pool. It’s just a great spot for some drinks and laughs with your mates. The villa also has a dedicated media room with a wraparound sofa where you can really veg out.
Comfy Bedrooms
The three bedrooms are all housed upstairs, with large windows looking out to the surrounding greenery. As the rooms are divided into two wings, there’s a great sense of privacy for all guests.
The bedrooms are very well appointed, and we found them to be very comfortable. They are all decked out with TVs and offer that lovely mix of modern style and Balinese details. The ensuite bathrooms are equally impressive as they are all fitted with huge spa style bathtubs.
Take Me There!
Villa Ashoka was such a fun surprise! We had a blast at the villa, playing pool in the underground lounge and watching movies in the media room. We also loved exploring Canggu and Pererenan as there are always new cafes and restaurants to try and the sunsets never get old. And we’re still dreaming about that breakfast…
