Dessert Bliss
Tropicana Cafe’s menu focuses on great churros with fabulous trimmings.
Churro Fiesta is a round churro topped with your choice of ice cream, sauce and toppings. I went for a coconut ice cream + chocolate sauce + Oreo crumble combo and it was perfect.
If you prefer a more classic take on this Spanish treat, you can always opt for the classic long churros served with your preferred sauce. The white chocolate dip was delish. Tropicana also does great crepes and waffles.
Besides all the amazing desserts, Tropicana has a great breakfast selection and also offers savoury bites – the vegetarian bitterballen (a kind of Dutch meatball / falafel) are yummy!
As a nice added bonus, Tropicana Cafe & Churros is very reasonably priced. Most of the churro dishes are priced around IDR 30,000++ (USD $2.5). Our grand total for two people ordering churros, drinks and bitterballen came to around IDR 160,000 (USD $12).
And seriously – how can you not love a place where your latte art is a piglet?
Views & Vibes for Days
Tropicana Cafe & Churros is the perfect example of Umalas’ charm. The café’s funky murals of flamingos and Frida Kahlo blend in with rice paddy views that look like they’ve been here forever.
Since we’re not in the epicentre of Seminyak, Tropicana rarely gets uncomfortably crowded. There’s no need to fight over tables and you don’t feel like you need to rush with your food to release your table to the next diners waiting in line.
