The Loft Living

The Loft is a cool and contemporary villa par excellence – a rare find in Ubud where most properties follow classic Balinese architecture. The villa is divided into two pavilions separated by a large private pool, with the two bedrooms following a modern fluid layout.

Living Room

The living room is a breezy open-plan space looking over the pool and manicured garden. Surrounded by fresh white walls, the space is furnished with two velvet sofas and futuristic chairs, with a beautiful painting hung on the wall offering the perfect balance between modern aesthetics and classic Balinese artistry.

Dining Room

The dining area is part of the open-plan living room, with a light timber dining table surrounded by six white chairs. True to the villa’s high aesthetics, the dining area is lit up by a cool designer lamp. The villa includes a kitchenette fitted with all the essentials: a water dispenser and a Nespresso machine for the coffee lovers!

The villa features manicured gardens with unique slants in the walls looking out to the rice fields and the majestic Mount Agung looming beyond. The villa has a spacious 17 x 3 metre swimming pool perfect for clocking some leisurely laps in, flanked by curved sun loungers perfect for working on your tan.

The Loft Bedrooms

The Loft has two bedrooms, both furnished with a king-sized bed. The bedrooms are located side by side by the pool and can both be considered master suites as they are identical, so there is no need to fight over who gets to stay in the “good” room. The rooms have an open layout where the sleeping quarters and the bathroom are incorporated into the same fluid space with a connecting door in between.

Bedroom 1

The first bedroom is a grand open-plan space with a king-sized bed and a bathroom with a standalone bath and twin vanities incorporated into the same fluid space. The room is flanked by glass doors looking out to the garden.

WOW! I’m in love with the style, design, furnishings, location and overall feeling of the villa. The mix of textures, raw concrete, matt black walls, grey shower tiles, teak elements all complement each other perfectly. The 3m+ ceilings: give every room a feeling of enormous space and combined with the open-plan design it allows plenty of light and the breeze to flow through. The feature wall by the pool with slats looking out, opening up to rice paddies for atmosphere or closing for privacy is genius. The kitchen has precisely what is needed for 4 guests, good size fridge, water cooler, Nespresso maker plus the villa includes a continental breakfast delivered at a time which suits. In the living room the big blue sofa is super comfortable and I LOVE the villain chairs! The internet is fast and stable with 10 Mbps download but 3.7 Mbps upload.

Overall, it’s a super impressive execution of the modern villa concept. Many get it wrong… too white, not enough art, uncomfortable furniture, low ceilings etc. but The Loft in Ubud is the embodiment of a modern villa.

This brand-new villa is highly unique in design, like no other villa I’ve come across in Ubud. Purely for its modern style, and fluid minimalistic approach in the bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms. The pool stretches the width of the villa and has bi-folding shutters that can be opened to allow the breeze from the neighbouring rice fields to flow through, or on a clear day, views of Mount Agung in the distance. The kitchen, living and dining room spaces are equipped with the basics one would need for a villa stay in Ubud and reflect that of a minimalistic approach.
