Umbala The House Living
On the outside, Umbala The House is all sleek lines and endless windows. The cutting-edge structure really wouldn’t look amiss lining Miami’s Biscayne Bay. Inside, the villa resembles a beautiful beach house in the Hamptons, infused with generous tropical touches – think bohemian rattan furniture and vibrant exotic textiles. That this carefully designed “home from home” (as lovingly described by the owners) is also located in Bali’s most sought-after neighbourhood is simply the icing on the cake.
Living
The main living and dining room is a gorgeous space that was made for socialising and enjoying each other’s company to the fullest. The space is decorated in light tones and lined with sliding glass doors looking over the pool and garden. A generous arrangement of sofas and armchairs offers an idyllic setting for spending quality time together, with the adjoining kitchen and dining area allowing the conversation to keep flowing uninterrupted.
Next to the main living room is a separate TV room furnished with a cute, candy cane coloured sofa that’s perfect for snuggling up for a movie marathon with the family. For even more options, there is a second TV room upstairs. This room is decorated in blue nautical tones and features a large smart TV, movable chairs and toys to keeps the kids entertained.
Dining
True to the villa’s home like ethos, the dining area is a fluid extension of the living room. This sets the scene for the best kind of get-togethers – the kind that stretch on for hours, from a relaxed breakfast around the dining table to sneaky afternoon naps on the sofa, and from epic dinners to late-night drinks after the kids have long since tip toed off to bed. Meals can be enjoyed around a large timber dining table. You can go alfresco with the glass doors open or enjoy the AC with the doors closed – whichever suits your mood.
Close by is the villa’s open plan kitchen which appears ready for a magazine spread of its own. Besides its beautiful appearance, the kitchen is also fully equipped with all the latest appliances, including a stainless-steel gas stove, barbecue gear and an espresso machine.

Umbala The House is hugged by manicured lawns and ample tropical greenery. Much of your time will undoubtably will spent enjoying the villa’s sleek swimming pool which includes a shallow section for the kiddos and a swim up bar for the grownups. Perhaps the most photogenic spot in the whole villa – and that’s saying something in a property that’s styled to the nines – is the sunken lounge which flanks the pool. This beautiful seating area offers a relaxing place in the shade, with a glass panel offering direct views into the pool.

When you find yourself craving a change of scenery, the upper floor terrace offers a sensational setting for drinks at sunset.

Umbala The House features five bedrooms, including a custom designed kids’ bedroom that can sleep up to seven children with ease. Three bedrooms are furnished with king-sized beds, one room comes with twin beds, while the fifth room features a queen bed with a lofted single bed above it, along with two sets of bunk beds. All bedrooms are uniquely decorated and feature beautifully designed ensuite bathrooms complete with sumptuous bathtubs.

The ground floor houses the villa’s living and dining areas, along with three bedrooms. These rooms look over the villa’s private swimming pool which is flanked by a covered sunken lounge area. There are two more bedrooms on the villa’s upper floor, along with a terrace that’s perfect for sundowners and a TV room that also provides toys for the children.

Umbala The House is located in Berawa, a cool surfer district nestled in Canggu, Bali. The villa is perfectly positioned for exploring this vibrant neighbourhood to the fullest. The villa’s quiet lane provides direct access to Jalan Pantai Berawa, the winding main street which is lined with rice fields, trendy restaurants, spas and cafes. Many of the area’s coolest eateries are located within minutes from the villa – Kong, Butterman and Warung Goûthé are just some of the most popular options close by. Sumptuous beach clubs like Finns and Café del Mar are also just a 10-minute drive away. In particular, the unique style the owners have created. The living area has a “welcome home” feeling and gorgeous character. The bedrooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. The pool and sunken lounge is ultra cool. The welcome drinks were wonderful in flavour and presentation. The bruschetta was also a lovely surprise (Shhh) and tasty. We had such happy friendly faces cooking whatever we wished for, preparing drinks by the pool, daily massages in our rooms, facials, pedicures. Anything we wanted to arrange, was such a breeze.
