Istana means palace and you will realise with no wonder how Villa Istana Semer lives up to its name. The property holds a tropical yet regal appearance and its set in a gorgeously landscaped garden with views of terraced rice paddies. Constructed in true Balinese grandeur, it is made up of several wings that expand from a centralised living pavilion. Enter the complex through large double wooden gates with access to all other areas via a series of slated teakwood paths and stone steps across lotus pond walkways. The property is located in a prime spot, giving you liberty to enjoy the ocean breeze and the famous Bali sunsets within the comforts of your villa.

Living Room

The living room of Villa Istana Semer is the focal point of the entire house. The large, circular living space takes a leaf from traditional Balinese design, boasting a dramatic thatched ceiling. Jump onto the large sofa – its comfort being an almost gravitational pull – to listen to the holiday escapades of your friends and family. Lay your eyes to rest by peering over to the sprawling garden and beyond towards the rice fields.

We’d never recommend this on holiday, but should you need to log onto your emails urgently, make use of the computer in the office room that is strategically placed to overlook the gardens. Close the huge antique Javanese carved sliding panel should you need increased privacy.

If you are a fan of billiards, then you might love the idea of a round of billiards right after dinner. … or why while you’re having dinner! You won’t miss out on the gossip, as the table is right beside the dining room. Close the wooden door partitions to create a recreational room all of its own.

Dining Room

Holidays are always fun when you have family and friends. Gather your loved ones to enjoy a home cooked dinner at Villa Istana Semer’s dining area that seats 12 to 14 people.

As the dining area overlooks the gardens, kids will be elated as they could take breaks running around before coming back in for another tasty mouthful.

Garden & Pool

Take a stroll down to the gardens before jumping into the pool. You’ll never get bored taking a dip in the 15-meter long swimming pool while sipping on your Island Mojito and overlooking the luscious rice fields.

Get involved as Julia Roberts did in Eat, Pray, Love – do some yoga and meditation near the wonderful temple shrine in your very own gardens. Alternatively, the garden has a traditional bale where you could snuggle in with friends and family while chatting and watching the starlit night sky.

Your kids will be exhausted by the end of the day, after running around the vast, open spaces (perfect for hide-and-seek) as well as frolicking at the playhouse.

Enter the bedroom wing of the property, located at the opposite end of the main living pavilion area. The property has 5 stylish bedrooms that have ensuite ‘alfresco’ concept bathrooms.

Master Bedroom

The master bedrooms are reminiscent of old colonial style consisting of canopied king-sized poster beds with white linen drapes. The beds and furniture are made of teakwood, and along with the thatched ceilings give the room an air of regality.

The master bedrooms are ‘alfresco’ ensuite bathrooms that flood with natural light. The bathroom has a bathtub, which also has a rain-shower.

The master bedroom on the upper floor has an open air balcony, and the one of the lower floor has an open breakfast veranda. Both have views of the grounds and swimming pool. Grab your partner, pick up a bottle of wine and enjoy the sunset in the comfort of the bedroom.

Guest Bedrooms

The other bedroom wing of the villa consists of two double bedrooms and one single bedroom (two single beds).

Villa Manager

Villa Istana Semer’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the villa. The villa manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.

Housekeeping

You didn’t think you would be expected to clean while enjoying time off did you? All of our villas include housekeeping to tidy up the villa, arrange the laundry services, wash up and simply make sure you don’t lift a finger whilst on holiday with the family.

Chef

The villa’s skilled private chef will happily prepare anything from the Western, Asian, vegetarian and children’s suggestion menus, as well as discuss special requests and dietary requirements.

Security

It’s nice to know you have security and many villas will have full-time guards or night time security available. Additional security can also be arranged if the villa doesn’t include any in the daily rate.
