Boasting a sensational location in central Hirafu, the mighty Zai-On wows across all three floors. The highlights start as soon as you step through the door, with a cool-as-can-be entertainment room welcoming you in on the ground floor. Not only does the room have a projector screen and plush sofas for watching movies, but there’s also a jacuzzi (complete with a waterproof TV!) and sauna right next door. Then there are the top-floor living areas which are lined with floor to ceiling windows looking out to Mount Yotei.

Cosy up by the fireplace or gather up for gourmet meals – the choice is yours! And let’s not forget about the furnished balcony which features a dining table, a barbecue and an atmospheric firepit – aka the perfect spot for some epic stargazing. Though the amenities would be more than enough to impress even the most jaded snow bunnies, Zai-On is also on overachiever when it comes to location. Positioned in Middle Hirafu, the chalet is just minutes away from Hirafu’s famous slopes and literally around the corner from the main dining strip. Kampai!

As soon as you step through the front door, you can feel how fluidly life and energy flows through this meticulously designed chalet. Zai-On’s name translates into “in the presence of grace” and it’s easy to see the inspiration. Great care has been put into creating spaces that effortlessly bring the whole group together, whether you feel moved to host a movie night in the media room, head in for a shvitz in the sauna or spend a night stargazing out on the balcony while the firepit spreads its warm glow. The endless windows which line the rooms ensure a constant flow of natural light – not to mention enviable panoramas of Mount Yotei.

Living Room

One of the best design elements of Zai-On is the fact that the living areas are housed on the top floor. Crowned with a +4-metre-high ceiling and lined with floor to ceiling windows, this magnificent space offers sublime views looking out to Mount Yotei. Thanks to an open floor plan, there is plenty of opportunity to relax and socialise. Curl up on the pineapple yellow sofa and enjoy a movie playing on the huge 85-inch TV screen, or cosy up on one of the muted grey sofas flanking the lavishly wide gas fireplace. After the weather warms up (or if you’re not afraid of the cold), you can also make the lavish balcony your second living room and enjoy the hypnotic glow of the gas fire pit as the night wears on.

Dining Room

The dining area is incorporated into the spacious living areas which take pride of place on the chalet’s top floor. Crafted from a beautiful piece of natural timber, the dining table offers prime views of Hirafu Village and out to Mount Yotei thanks to full wall windows which surround the room. The dining area extends to the chalet’s fully equipped kitchen which features beautiful marble countertops and all the necessary appliances, including a coffee maker and rice cooker. During the warmer months, you can also enjoy meals and relaxed barbecues out on the furnished balcony where the Yotei panoramas will take your breath away.

Media Room

Located on the ground floor, Zai-On’s media room is primed for some epic après-ski fun. A plush sofa positioned in front of a huge TV offers a great set up for movie nights, while the kitchenette ensures you’ll always have snacks and drinks handy. However, the standout feature has to be the jacuzzi which flanks the room. Slide the glass doors open to enjoy a soak surrounded by the cold mountain air if you dare! This sumptuous tub even comes with a waterproof TV – oh, and there is also a sauna right next door.

Zai-On features six bedrooms and offers a variety of bedding configurations for guests to choose from. Four bedrooms offer the option between a king-sized bed or two singles – which ever suits you best. There is a bunk room which can sleep up to six guests, with two sets of bunks featuring a double bed on the bottom with a single bed above it. A traditional tatami room can sleep up to four guests on futon mattresses. If you still need more space or are travelling with a helper, there is one extra bedroom on the ground floor, furnished with a single bed.

Zai On is a six-bedroom chalet that’s built over three floors. The ground floor houses the ski room, media room, jacuzzi and sauna. There is also an extra bedroom on this floor, featuring a single bed, with a guest bathroom located close by in the hallway. One floor above you will find five bedrooms, including one traditional tatami room with futon mattresses. The top floor houses the living and dining areas and kitchen which are flanked by a large furnished balcony. This floor also houses one bedroom.

Property Manager

The chalet’s experienced and knowledgeable manager is responsible for the overall operation of the chalet. The property manager will oversee and coordinate the staff and property and assist you during your stay.

Housekeeping

Our chalets in Japan often have housekeeping 1 – 2 times per week depending on the property. Each chalet will have their own cleaning schedule.

Zai-On offers a sensational location in Niseko’s Hirafu Village. Located in a relaxed corner of Middle Hirafu (the area where you’ll find all the best restaurants and shops), the chalet is neighboured by other lodges and hotels. From this cosy residential setting, it takes less than five minutes to reach Momiji-Zaka, Hirafu’s unofficial eat street. This lively strip leads up to the throughfare which runs through town and offers even more dining options (including the much-lauded Kamimura) and grocery stores, including Seicomart and Lawson. The Hirafu ski lifts are about 15 minutes away on foot but if the uphill walk seems daunting, don’t worry – the free shuttle bus stop is just 200 metres away.
