Are you planning a ski trip to Japan and are looking for something fresh, new, and exciting to explore? Look no further than fabulous Furano. This up-and-coming ski resort is the newest addition to our portfolio.
Furano is located in the centre of Hokkaido. It’s about a 2.5-hour drive from New Chitose Airport – about the same distance as Niseko. In other words, if you’re heading to Japan for a powder fix, why not check out Furano? Wildwood proved to be the perfect home base for exploring this soon-to-be-huge ski town.
Brand New & Oh-So Comfy
Everything about Wildwood felt brand new! The house itself is newly built in 2024 and the management team has a very keen eye for detail. Not a single cushion or cup was out of place.
The upstairs living room was very comfortable, with a lounge area and a dining table that can both seat six. We loved the huge Sony TV mounted on the living room wall. We were able to log into our Netflix and Prime accounts and flick through YouTube, which was all we wanted to do after a day spent on the go.
3 Bedrooms, 1 Fabulous Bathtub
Wildwood has three bedrooms, and we think that the layout is very well suited for families. The chalet has two bedrooms with a king bed in each plus a bunk room that can sleep four. The setup would be perfect for two sets of parents, with four kids having a slumber party in the bunk room.
The two downstairs bedrooms share a bathroom between them. The primary bedroom is located upstairs next to the living area. This room has its own bathroom – we absolutely loved the bathtub!
Relaxed Surroundings
Wildwood is positioned in a little neighbourhood that backs up against the gondolas in the southwest corner of the ski town. This is a nice little community of chalets that’s surrounded by forest, located about 500 metres from the Kitanomine Gondola.
The gondola is within walking distance and there are a few great little eateries in the neighbourhood, including Furano Delice which is literally just around the corner.
Still, as the chalet is located in a quieter part of town, we think that the best way to get around is to self-drive. Based on our experience, the most hassle-free option is to rent a car from New Chitose Airport and then drive up to Furano. Wildwood has a carport which, while not a lockable garage, was very handy for off-street parking and kept our car from being snowed in.
We’re Wild for Wildwood!
Wildwood was designed for comfort and convenience and based on our stay, we’d say they absolutely nailed it. The chalet felt ultra-modern, and it was absolutely, spotlessly clean. We think this property offers exceptional value for anyone wanting to experience Furano.
