Families love Casa Mateo and it’s easy to see the appeal. There are so many places to explore, both within this eclectic villa and right outside its door. As our team discovered during a recent stay, this Seminyak stunner is all about the fun.
Joie de Vivre in Seminyak
Casa Mateo is a large villa with six bedrooms and plenty of room to roam. The villa’s three pavilions are divided by vast lawns that are perfect for fun and play.
The rooftop terrace is a great spot to hang out and take in the scenery. You can see Bali’s beautiful sunsets in the distance, with two swimming pools (including a shallow one for the kiddos) waiting in the garden below. All of this is framed by lush bougainvillea trees that are bursting with flowers. The whole villa exudes a joie de vivre that’s sure to put a smile on your face.
The villa’s location is easily one of the best in Seminyak. Jalan Kayu Aya (aka Eat Street) is just a five-minute stroll away, meaning you’ll find an endless array of restaurants, cafes, shops and spas practically on your doorstep. Crucially, the villa is tucked down a private driveway so you’re still away from the noise and traffic. This fabulous location is another reason families love this villa.
Lounging in Style
Casa Mateo is great for bigger groups as there are so many places to hang out in. We loved having sunset drinks up on the terrace – the views really are fabulous.
However, we found ourselves spending most of our time relaxing in the downstairs living room. This breezy space is styled with beautiful bohemian flair, and it’s also very cleverly designed. Even though the room is open on three sides, the space remains quite cool throughout the day as the bedrooms that are housed above it give it great insulation. With ceiling fans moving the air around, this was a nice and cool space to relax in.
Space to Hang, Privacy When You Need It
Staying at the villa as a small group, we felt the layout was ideal for enjoying each other’s company while still giving everyone their privacy. The bedrooms are divided into two pavilions which are spread out, so everyone could easily sneak off to have a little quiet time when needed. We could then come together for mealtimes and have fun together as a group – it’s just the perfect setup for a villa stay.
Eclectic Entertainment
Casa Mateo really is all about the fun! We had a blast simply exploring the villa and delighting in the unique decor in each room. On closer inspection, the villa also has a few hidden surprises that will keep the whole group entertained.
One of the most unique features is the villa’s sauna. It’s not every day you can enjoy a relaxing steam while looking out to a tropical garden! There’s even a huge stone bathtub right out front which makes the setup extra fun.
And the sauna isn’t the only place where you can relax to the fullest. Making your way through the garden, there’s a pavilion at the back of the property that can be used just as you see fit. You can use it as your own private yoga studio (our concierge can arrange an instructor for you) or it can be transformed into a spa room for in-villa massages.
The villa also has a great media room with an actual projector and a screen to match. We really enjoyed hosting movie nights here, kicking back on those sky-blue seats.
Unique Bedrooms
Casa Mateo has six bedrooms. From dreamy white décor to a dramatic Japanese theme, each of the rooms is very unique and comes with its own special flavour. Again, it was fun just exploring the different rooms and figuring out which of them spoke to each individual in our group.
Fully Staffed & Fabulous
Casa Mateo is a fully staffed villa where you feel wrapped in hospitality as soon as you step through the door. Their team of six made us feel wonderfully looked after throughout our stay. The villa manager was available 24/7 to answer all of our questions.
Another highlight was the chef. The food at the villa was so good we forgot that we were surrounded by Bali’s best restaurants! With those lovely large gardens, this would also be the perfect setting for hosting a barbecue – something to keep in mind for next time…
Family Oasis
With its joyful décor, peaceful gardens and central locale (it’s pretty much walking distance to everything), Casa Mateo is the most blissful family oasis in Seminyak.
It’s the perfect place to follow your bliss: You can choose the room and décor that suits your mood today, and alternate between social hangs and private moments with ease. There’s so much to do at the villa – but you’re always just moments from the action. On all fronts, Casa Mateo really offers the best of all worlds.
