Edgy, minimalist, and even downright futuristic. In recent years, Bali has sprouted every type of villa you could imagine. But to really get a feel of the island, there is nothing quite like staying in a quintessentially Balinese villa. A villa that’s hidden amidst gorgeous lush gardens with a tropical pool in the centre. A villa with open plan living areas housing beautiful Balinese furnishings, all crowned with a breezy alang alang roof.
The lovely Villa Inti ticks all of those dreamy boxes – this really is a classic Balinese villa.
Balinese, Inside and Out
We get our first taste of Villa Inti’s Balinese beauty before even stepping inside, with a floating pathway leading us up to the entrance which is framed by two umbrellas – a Balinese symbol of protection. As we enter the villa, it only gets better.
The living room is beautifully styled with exotic textiles, rare artefacts and a delicate shell chandelier. Not a single cushion is out of place and every ornate carpet is perfectly in line. And that’s what we really love about this villa: the artefacts, the antiques and the immaculate attention to detail.
The villa is larger than it appears and there’s a lot to explore. You can stay on the main level and lounge around the pool or cascade down to the lush garden waiting below. The five bedrooms are also spread out, so everyone gets to have their personal space when needed.
Breezy Living
Open plan living is one of the hallmarks of Balinese architecture. This breezy layout allows you to enjoy a deep connection with the island’s tropical nature. Villa Inti channels this tradition beautifully, with the main living area and the adjoining dining room connecting seamlessly to the pool area. We also loved spending time out on the airy terrace positioned to the side of the villa, which offers another living and dining area with lush views looking over the pool and garden.
Dining, Bali Style
Villa Inti really is a Balinese villa through and through. Even the villa’s kitchen is styled to give you that sense of being in wondrous and tropical Bali, with natural materials and Indonesian artefacts incorporated into the décor.
We chose to have breakfast at the villa, but with a location in up and coming Pererenan, it’s also very close to trendy new venues that would make for a great brunch spot. Preferring to get a slow start to the day, we opted instead to have a car and driver to take us to new restaurants for lunch and dinner. The villa’s lovely staff is more than capable of preparing fabulous meals when you choose to stay in, though it’s getting more and more common for guests to order in from nearby restaurants and then eat in the privacy of the villa. It’s great to have all these options at your fingertips.
Sweet Slumber
Villa Inti feels like a serene oasis with its five bedrooms further echoing the villa’s Balinese aesthetics. The bedrooms are fitted with dreamy canopy beds and beautifully chosen furniture that gives you that wonderful feeling of Bali. With their open-air layout, the bathrooms too are the stuff of tropical dreams – another classic characteristic of Balinese villas.
The Best of Bali
Villa Inti is the epitome of a dreamy Balinese villa with the loveliest, lushest gardens and incredibly kind staff. Here’s how a past guest described their stay – we really couldn’t have said it any better:
”We were a group of eight, family members traveling from three different continents to gather in this special space. Laughter, meals, pool, the beach, we created so many beautiful memories but as we spoke about the ‘best of Bali’, it was this Villa and the amazing people who hosted us. Kind. Gracious. Helpful. Accommodating. Absolute hospitality. As wonderful as Bali is, you were the very best part!
