Koh Samui is one of the most beautiful and popular beach destinations on the planet. Though ample water sports and lively beach parties are great, sometimes you just need to get away from it all and enjoy the beach, minus the crowds. Here are a few of the most beautiful and quiet beaches in Koh Samui.

Bang Por Beach

Bang Por Beach (sometimes spelled Bang Po) is located in Mae Nam on the northern coast of Koh Samui. This is a five-kilometre stretch of white sand that’s often ignored by tourists but favoured by locals and expats.

You’ll also spot local fishermen and a few seafood restaurants – a reporter for Travel + Leisure even credited Bang Po Seafood as the “most delicious thing I ate on the island.”

Bang Por Beach is great for spending a laid-back day by the sea and thanks to the scrumptious seafood, it’s definitely one of the best quiet beaches in Koh Samui.

Choeng Mon Beach

Choeng Mon Beach is one of the best swimming beaches in Koh Samui.

This beach is not completely deserted and offers a decent selection of water sports and day beds for rent, but it’s still significantly less crowded as compared to nearby Chaweng Beach.

If you’re looking for quiet beaches in Koh Samui but still want to have some tourist facilities on hand, Choeng Mon Beach is a great choice.

Lipa Noi Beach

Lipa Noi Beach is situated on the west coast of Koh Samui and offers some of the best sunset views on the island. If you find yourself craving for a cocktail while visiting Lipa Noi Beach, the famous Nikki Beach is close by.

Lipa Noi Beach is blissfully devoid of touts and hawkers and from the most parts, tourists. The water is shallow which makes this a great option for families with smaller kids.

With its generous stretch of sand and status as one of the most quiet beaches in Koh Samui, Lipa Noi is great for a romantic walk on the beach.

Chaweng Noi

Escape the crowds of main Chaweng Beach at laid-back Chaweng Noi Beach. Chaweng Noi Beach is by no means deserted – there are restaurants lining the beach and sun beds for rent on the sand – it’s still worlds away from the crowds you’ll find on the main beach of Chaweng.

If you’re looking for the golden mean of Koh Samui’s beaches, Chaweng Noi might just be the perfect fit. The beach rarely gets too crowded for comfort, but still offers a decent selection of dining options and other entertainment. In other words: not too crowded, not a total snoozeville but juuust right.

When visiting Chaweng Noi Beach, it’s best to take a taxi that will bring you straight to the beach. If you’re making your way over on foot, it might be difficult to find an opening as the beach is fronted by hotels which don’t allow outsides to cut through their premises.

Samrong Beach & Tonson Bay

Samrong Beach and Tonson Bay are a pair of beautiful quiet beaches is Koh Samui’s northern shores.

The twin beaches are located close to bustling Chaweng, but still remain under the radar of most visitors to Koh Samui. This means you can enjoy the beaches in peace… but still be within a 10-minute drive of the shopping and dining of Chaweng.

Samrong and Tonson are similar in appearance and setting and neither is a sprawling stretch of beach. Both beaches measure at around 250 metres and offer lovely white sand. Samrong Bay offers great views of Koh Phangan, especially if you climb the lush hills hugging the beach.

Me and my family will never get tired of going to Choeng Mon. For me it is the perfect beach to bring your family. Less crowded, the beach is calm and inviting plus its very safe. This is our go to destination whenever we’re in Koh Samui.
