Incredible place to stay and visit. Well worth the trip and the staff has done an incredible job upholding the vision of the late Mr. Walker. Before we even arrived at the island, the staff were efficient in their responses to questions and took initiative to provide us appropriate items for our stay. For example, a baby change table, baby car seat, bath toys & nappies for our child. You can tell they took pride and care to ever detail. The staff memorised after the first day what our preferred breakfast beverage was. We felt relaxed, taken care of and very happy throughout our stay.
A huge shout out to Shiva, Chef Caroline, Chef Enzo, Mere, Sera and the rest of the Kokomo staff for making our stay so memorable and fantastic that we want to come back and visit again in the near future. Highly recommended place to stay when visiting Fiji. Do not even bother with any of the resorts on the main islands as they do not compare.

Tips for Your Trip to Paradise

My husband and I had a thoroughly magical week at Kokomo in November. It is a pinch-me place. Much has been written here about the amazing service and experiences, so I will add some specific tips:
-Make sure to visit the Kokocabana restaurant by the pool. At first we dismissed it thinking it was just a pizza place for kids, but the chef, Enzo, is from Napoli and came to our table on our first visit to find out what we like and then brought out one delicious dish after another. I think it’s not as popular as the Plank because it’s not on the beach, but don’t miss out on Enzo’s food.
-Stay on west side for sunsets and less wind.
-Take time to talk with the staff. Such beautiful and friendly people work there who are happy to share interesting stories of their families and their home islands. I found Fijians to be very warm, and they don’t hesitate in asking questions.
-Do the farm tour. Very interesting to see how veggies and fruits are grown in challenging conditions, plus you get a backstage peek at the impressive infrastructure on island.
-Explore the Great Austrolabe Reef if you snorkel or dive. One of the largest barrier reefs in the world. Dive staff are great.
-Check out the coral nurseries in the house lagoon (the marine scientists on staff are doing good work).

    Exceptional place.

Gorgeous setting with impeccable accommodations and utterly private atmosphere. The staff to guest ratio is high and the staff is outstanding. All activities exceeded expectations. Went fishing for Yellowfin Tuna with Jaga. Experience of a lifetime. Snorkeling and beach activities were also excellent. Our kids saw lobster, sea turtles, octopus, sea cucumbers, and a hundred varieties of fish.

Probably the best in the world!

This is such a fabulous resort and reaching it by helicopter was a superb experience. We were greeted by the manager,Grant, and then staff singing and playing guitars as a welcome – my wife was moved to tears! Here to celebrate my big birthday and we could not fault the warm friendly staff who quickly became our friends. Everyone from gardeners to the chef were so cheery and happy you immediately felt they love working here. Nothing was too much trouble and they were so flexible with timings for meals ,activities in fact just about anything.

Our villa was large, first class and overlooked the beautiful bay as we enjoyed lovely sunsets. Food was exceptional and full of innovative flavours without being over powering. There is plenty to do here and we enjoyed a full days fishing, though we never managed to catch the big game fish but were happy with the large snappers. The wine choice is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed a wine tasting session with the very knowledgable sommelier – Stephen. You must also try Ben’s cocktails.

You often see glamourised videos and pictures of resorts only to be disappointed when you arrive. Well you wont be with Kokomo Island – it is exactly what you see on their website. Their farewell, again with singers etc,was equally as moving as their welcome! Five days of bliss and we cannot wait to return.
Thank you Grant and all the family at Kokomo Island

One of our most favorite destinations by far. Everyone at Kokomo Private Island 🇫🇯 made us feel right at home. Everything was right on point. Right from the beginning Jacque greeting us at the pier then the warm welcome musical celebration with the whole team was magical (had happy tears). The island is spectacular and very private. The beach and the views are picturesque and simply one of a kind. The villa was absolutely stunning and offered breathtaking views. The attention to detail, the luscious gardens and landscape, the in-villa massages, was everything we wanted and more.

Most importantly and the highlight of our stay was the Kokomo Private Island Fiji was the Team. They really made our stay special. The incredible service and attention to detail provided by the them was one of a kind. They knew my wife and I by name from the moment we arrived they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. We celebrated my 40th birthday on this trip and they made sure to make it as special as possible. Every member of the team was so accommodating and kind, always going above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Super attentive and friendly. They attended and treated us like royalty. We also got to experience the Fijian culture at it’s best. We got to enjoy Kava with them. It was a beautiful experience.

Lastly the food was out of this world. Everything was fresh and cooked from scratch. Absolutely delicious gourmet meals. Chef Francene and Kitty really took great care of our family. Nathan at the bar kept the perfect cocktails coming and Shirley temple’s for our kiddos. His contagious laugh and attentiveness kept us coming back. Our sweet Caroline and Lulu always greeted us with a big smile early in the mornings for our daily breakfast.

Overall, It’s no exaggeration to say that this was quite possibly the best resort my wife and I have ever stayed at, and we’ve had the privilege of staying at many luxury resorts around the world. Kokomo Private Island Fiji is truly in a league of its own, thanks to its stunning location, impeccable design, and, most importantly, its exceptional Team. If you’re looking for a once in a lifetime experience you won’t regret this magical island. Our send off and sincere farewell was one to remember. We look forward to our next stay.

Stop reading and just book it! This is as top notch of a resort as there is. We have been to Four Seasons, Aman, One & Only and all in between and it’s the best of the best! I traveled with my wife and 2 kids (3 and 10 months) and from the moment you land in Nadi the Kokomo team whisks you away to their private hanger. The hanger is beautiful, they have bathrooms and showers to change before the seaplane and kids room for the little ones.

When we landed at Kokomo we were greeted by Heather and her team to the most amazing welcome entrance. We were then upgraded to a residence which was INSANE! The entire staff on the island treated us as family and catered to all of our needs. I would recommend staying on the west side of the island. It’s closer to the everything and the water is much calmer for swimming. There are so many activities on the island to do and the only regret is not being there long enough.

    Absolutely incredible!

From the moment you arrive, you feel as if the staff are catering only to you and you are the only family there which made sense with a staff to guest ratio of 6:1 Whether it is the musical welcome, the endless golf carts waiting to take you anywhere, the customized meals, or the constant housekeeping/laundry that is done so you can enjoy, this was one of the best resorts we have experienced.

The dive team from Walter to Viviana educated us and showed us the beauty of the solar and astrolabe reef as we dove with sharks, turtle and unbleached corals. Their dedication to ecotourism with the Manta Project and Coral reef restoration is inspirational and a beautiful way to pay it forward. Stretton was a fisherman who had an incredible fund of knowledge and real helped my son learn to spearfish, understand responsible fishing and catch incredible dinners!

The spa services though Alex were catered to us; yoga overlooking the island was relaxing and gym had new equipment. The food was exceptional. From Caroline’s culinary masterpieces and her passion for food to Enzo and Francine’s delicious pizzas, the drive to deliver tasty beautiful food from dock to table was incredible. The entire team was happy, the entire team strived to provide the best service and to protect this island for the future.
    We will be back!

    DREAM. COME. TRUE.

PHENOMENAL. It felt like a dream. From the moment we arrived at the hanger, had wonderful service and conversations with the staff (Vika) who were more than happy to give you a glimpse of what life on the island is like.

The welcome arrival song serenaded to every guest is just the tip of what you can expect from the Kokomo family, and the real Fijian spirit. I can’t comment enough about the staff and service at every turn. Every staff seems to know your name and room number, and are always there with a hearty BULA and a smile. From the little touches like a personalized water bottle, to the spa experience, the activities, and the accommodation. Liba, the restaurant manager is so warm and charming, always ready with the laugh. Gym is very well stocked, and is one of the best hotel gyms I have seen. Grounds are very well maintained, and housekeeping are phenomenal ninjas. Food was exquisite.

We just returned from about 12 days at Kokomo. Our experience was out of this world with the team nailing every single touch point you could ask for. Our little boy loved the kids club and experienced so many amazing activities such as fish feeding and kayaking. The nanny service was brilliant. My partner and I had such a wonderful time relaxing, snorkeling and enjoying such amazing cooking from the kitchen. The price is at the higher end, but after experiencing other Fiji 5 star resorts for similar money, Kokomo is a far superior destination. We are already looking at dates for next year. We stayed at this incredible resort in December 2017 and I wanted to repost these comments from my Tripadvisor review at the time. We have just (Dec 2022) returned from another holiday in Fiji, this time travelling with family and very small infants. Comparing our experience at Kokomo with that of another private island resort, we can confidently say that Kokomo is a very special place indeed. From the first moment you board Kokomo’s sea plane for a 40 minute flight to the exclusive, remote piece of paradise, to the very last escorted goodbyes and flight back to Nadi airport, our entire experience at Kokomo was unsurpassed.

The attention to detail of every aspect of our stay was incredible. Having stayed at many exclusive properties around the world, we have concluded that our experience at Kokomo Private Island Fiji was one of the very best. The warm and friendly welcome songs, coconut cocktails and floral garlands at our arrival signalled the start of a spectacular stay. Every staff member, from Martin in management to housekeeping, the scuba dive team, Charlie, Acu, Bill and Walter, the amazing chef Caroline at “Walker D’ Plank” who attended to our culinary needs with such commitment and passion and Stephan our sommelier, to the wonderfully friendly and professional Elai, Alisi, Manasseh, Ronny, Harry, Denis and Joe who made our stay truly memorable. We experienced many adventures during our stay with the scuba dive and activities team taking great care to ensure a best experience on every occasion.

The rooms are luxurious, light and spacious with a private garden, splash pool and direct access to the coral reefs on the pristine beach where we spent many hours snorkelling, paddle boarding, kayaking and relaxing. The hand made chocolates and beautiful turn down service were nice touches to come back to after our delicious dinners. The warm sea shell massage at the Spa was lovely too. Breakfasts were light and healthy (as we prefer them) with a full hot selection available if preferred. On every outing, a full picnic basket accompanied us, and the hot chocolate after a snorkel or dive outing was much enjoyed. On the whole, our holiday was one of the very best and most relaxing ones we’ve had. “Vinaka” Kokomo!

One of the best in the South Pacific

It’s been over a week since my family and I returned from the pretty sandy shores of Kokomo Private Island. Located an hour away from mainland Fiji, this luxury resort is by far one of the best places we have visited in our one of hundred vacations. From the welcoming song, bula smiles to the point where you get comfort in your villa, every one went out of their way to treat us so well.

The staff went above and beyond to make us feel great and certainly they sit well in carrying out their luxury Kokomo brand. A special mention must go to Caroline – Head Chef at Walker D Plank for her extraordinary customer service, she smiled, she sat down, and she made us feel like royalty for a day. From her Asian menus to her delicious pork ribs, Caroline can whip up anything, as my husband says she has the hands of god, and more so a wonderful person behind that chefs attire. She cannot be missed.

Second special mention must go to a back of house staff, Josh, who probably did computer science but should definitely be working with guest experience manager, Josh caught us walking from spa to the shack and offered us a lift, it was just amazing how Josh carried his words, not once making us feel like bored, he went out his way to drop us at the shack. What was more surprising is even after our dinner, and now upon writing this, makes us miss Josh a little too much today, a strong contender to lead guest experiences in near future, like my husband says.

And lastly, to Leba, her warmth and love was genuinely shown upon as she served us our plates at the shack. And the nanny’s who took care of our kids deserve a special mention too. We will definitely be coming back to visit Kokomo over and over again, the amazing staff, and evenings dinners with Caroline, and hopefully run into Josh again.

Thank you for making us feel special and cared for.

    Heaven

There are no words for this place. It is heaven on earth. The staff are unbelievable, so wonderful. They bring so much dedication & love to every single thing they do. But most of all they bring themselves & their personality. The beach is magic! The rooms are spacious and luxurious. Every little thing is thought of from wellness shots in your room on arrival (for combating jet lag & immunity boosting) to a full ice bucket at all times. The day spa will blend you a special tea whenever you wish, handmade chocolates seem to fall from the heavens just when you need them. The organic garden provides super fresh fruit & vege galore (i recommend the local fern fronds with your eggs bene)

A very special mention to chef Caroline who was PHENOMENAL. She would come and sit with us (the poor thing, we wouldn’t let her go but she was very patient :-) and tell us what came in fresh today then whip up plate after plate of deliciousness that she’d Magic’d up. Anything from fresh caught yellow fin tuna sashimi to smoked duck with citrus) One night she had 2 fresh lobsters and we couldn’t decide to have them spicy thai inspired or butter & herbs/spices so she did one of each! Caroline cooks from the heart amd is so generous with her knowledge & time. I often spotted her teaching other staff all sorts of cool things.

It was easy to see that she is consistently lifting others up and bringing education (with a hearty splash of joy) to her team. Also special mention to Sia who turned a little corner of ‘Walker de plank’ into Disneyland for big kids with her creative flair. Sia looked after us on many occasion and blew us away with her humor & warmth. Also Peni (Ben), Lilly, Jale, Heather, Sean, Aaron EVERYONE! We fell in love with the lot of ya! Recently my husband and I visited Kokomo Private Island Resort. It is a lovely island with incredible beautifully maintained gardens. We stayed for eight nights in a sunrise villa and we very much enjoyed our stay. The villa is designed with attention to detail that made our stay comfortable and pleasant. The staff worked exceptionally well. I would like to specifically mention Leba, the main restaurant manager, who really had a magic wand and created everything we wanted for ourselves without any hesitation.

We highly recommend to everyone to try Kokonda – a Fijian raw fish salad. This dish was an absolute delight for breakfast. If you like to have your dinner served in your villa, then you have to ask the lovely Charlie, who will set your table in the best Fijian style. I had the great pleasure of having three body treatments, including one facial, at Kokomo Island Spa, where I was served by the senior therapist Maria. She is a highly skilled professional with great knowledge, and I had a lot of joy spending my time in the Spa and being treated by the lovely Maria.

Every time we needed a transfer to anywhere we wanted to go within the island, we had a very special KokoLimo ride (we created this special name for the 8-seater golf cart). We highly recommend catching a ride and having fun talking to your driver – Netani. He presented me with the most touching birthday card on the day of my special birthday. All of the staff at the resort are amazing, and they made our stay there exceptional and memorable. A huge thanks to all of them!
    Food:

We have been visiting a lot of high-end luxury resorts including in Tahiti, Fiji and Maldives. For a luxury resort, as Kokomo positions itself on the market, we don’t think they fit into the exceptional bracket. All the food is fresh and tasty, but very simple and with basic presentation. It was more like street food without any really unique or outstanding elements. One big downside were the desserts and pastries – they need a big improvement. They were of a three star resort standard, rather than luxury.

In conclusion, we would recommend this resort for a visit, but we believe it is overpriced for what is offered. It is a solid 5 star resort by Fijian standards, but not a premium luxury resort by international standard.

A great place for honeymooners and globe trotters in Fiji

Great luxury: large modern bungalows, very friendly staff, excellent diving center, boats, fitniss center – superb island. We had great fun- loved the kava ceremony, the welcome music and relaxed atmosphere. A great place for honeymooners and globetrotters.

Heaven on earth. A great spot to take your teenagers

We have just returned from a week at Kokomo Private Island. I don’t know where to begin. Probably the most incredible thing about the island is the staff. We have found Fijians in general to be the most fun loving people in all our travel and the staff at this resort are no exception. They go above and beyond in their customer service and it is clear it is just who they are. Special mentions must go to Gabi, William, Patrick, and Peni but there were so many more. We travelled as a family if 2 adults and 3 teenagers and I never expected my kids to be so entertained. They loved all the water sports – going on the banana boat, learning to sail a catamaran, snorkelling, scuba diving, bouncing water pillow, and especially throwing a footy on the sand with the staff. The kids club is the best I’ve seen in all my travels with a full restaurant set up, pool table, air hockey, pool, ice cream parlour and Xbox.

We stayed in one of the residences (33) which was mind blowing. There was a view from every window. The infinity pool was a highlight. As was the complimentary choc honeycomb, fruit platters and daily pastries. Nothing was too much trouble for our lovely butler Mere who was happy to press our clothes, provide anti nausea tablets for the boat trip for my son, and even did some sewing for us! My husband loved the fishing with my teenage son and they were really happy with their catches. We did 6 dives between us as a family and were all really impressed with the state of the coral and fish. The hammerhead shark was a highlight.

The house reef is in very good condition due to low traffic in this part of Fiji. The snorkelling tours were great but even the reef out the front is fab. The beach accommodation is just as good as the residences. The food was particularly impressive. The standard of the meals was incredibly high with daily sashimi, wagyu beef, amazing salads. They catered perfectly for a vegan and GF member of our group. Nothing was too much trouble with special requests being happily accommodated. We had sunset drinks on the overwater pontoon on the last afternoon and the water sports staff happily kayaked our pina coladas out to us! Overall this island is heaven on earth. Highly recommend for romantic couples escape or a trip with kids or teens. There is plenty to do but you could just as easily do nothing at all. Absolute paradise with the most warm and welcoming staff. Well done team Kokomo!

Perfect place to relax and have fun!

This is our second trip back to Kokomo after our first visit 3 years earlier. The island is a perfect place to get away from everything. Starting with the residence we stayed in we had our own full kitchen setup, fully stocked fridge at all times, cookies and crisp, and washer and dryer if you prefer to do it yourself or you can pass them to housekeeping to clean. I love the concept that the price includes all the meals, non-alcoholic drinks, etc that you want.

The island is very well maintained and 3 years later normally you expected to see some wear and tear but they have done a great job to upkeep the place. The food and service is what sets Kokomo apart from other top class hotels. The GM and Resort Manager Sean and Andrew are always around working and checking on things. Everyone there is so friendly. I don’t know if this is Fijian culture or just Kokomo but they make you feel like this is your home. We have 3 kids of different ages and they could arrange their own activities all day that kept them busy and happy. If you have young kids their kids club is wonderful. They have a kids club and teens club. The ratio of staff to kids is amazing unless other hotels we have been too.

Cannot wait for our next visit.

❤️ Nanny service was the best!

We stayed for 10 nights, with 2 children aged 1 and 3 and also the in-laws. The garden was so beautiful and the beach was also amazing! So refreshing swimming in the ocean, you can also snorkel right from the beach and you see some house reef with colorful fish. My 3 year old loved it. The one bedroom villa was wonderful, the outdoor shower was just so nice. We all had a really good time, especially our 2 boys!

The nanny that we’re looking after our kids we’re so wonderful. We wanted to take them back with us to Melbourne. Everyone loved the food except me as a vegan. There weren’t many choices and the first few days I ate pretty much the same thing for lunch as they didn’t really catered for vegan. They also ran out of non dairy milk which was quite disappointing for this high end resort. Service was Fijian time. The gym was great, fully equipped and clean.

We have never return to any resorts, no matter how fantastic it was but we would return to Kokomo for the great nanny service they provide. Can’t wait to be back. Though, I hope they will up their vegan game when we return.

Everything about Kokomo is amazing. The location, facilities, a beautiful reef surrounds just meters from the beach. Food was amazing which was a first for Fiji (even in high end places). Attention to details was amazing too. Staff so friendly and helpful and genuinely wanting to make your and your families stay the best. Great kids and teens club. Yes it’s expensive and you would expect a lot for the money but you get it and so much more. Thankyou Kokomo!!
