Gazing over the ocean on Bali’s sought after southwest coast, The Beach Villa Cemagi mixes plush comfort with fresh contemporary style.
Right on arrival, we were taken aback by the sheer size of the villa – it is so much bigger than it appears in photos! The villa has enclosed indoor living and dining areas for cooling off with the AC and a fabulous outdoor living area where you can enjoy the breeze. The villa also has a library, a study, a media room (with a 3D screen!) and plenty of spots for setting up massage tables – a relaxing massage is always a must in Bali.
With so many lovely spaces to live and relax in, the villa makes for the most sumptuous home from home.
Dining & Driving in Style
During our stay, we were looked after by a wonderful team of staff, including the villa manager, housekeepers, gardeners, security guards and a private chef.
The chef really impressed us! A wonderful breakfast is included in the rates – think tropical fruit, fluffy pancakes and smashed avocado. For lunch and dinner, you can order from a Western, Asian or vegetarian menu. If you’re travelling with little ones, a children’s menu is also available. The villa uses the grocery system, so you only pay for the ingredients used to prepare the meals.
The villa has an enclosed and air-conditioned dining room, but we preferred to dine in the open-air pavilion by the pool. The views were fabulous, and the ocean breeze felt very relaxing.
A car and driver are also included in your stay and the staff was a great help when we wanted to explore beyond the local area.
Chill Cemagi or Chic Canggu?
The Beach Villa Cemagi is located in Cemagi, the next beach up the coast from Pererenan. As of now, this is a very quiet part of Bali. However, that’s changing as more and more people are spreading up the coastline, moving from Seminyak to Pererenan by way of Canggu. Eventually, more travellers will find their way to Cemagi, too.
While Cemagi is still a tranquil area, it’s also just a short drive from buzzy Canggu. If you’re looking to enjoy Canggu’s beach clubs and bars to the fullest but also want a relaxing beachside stay, this villa fits that bill perfectly.
Balinese Bliss
Cemagi embodies the relaxing feel of the “real” Bali. While the area has sprouted some fabulous villas and attracted a small community of discerning expats, Cemagi is still dominated by green paddy fields and life continues to move at the gentle pace of a Balinese village.
The beach with its velvety black sand is presided over by an age-old Hindu temple where colourful ceremonies take place twice a year. (The iconic Tanah Lot Temple is also just a 20-minute drive away.) Overall, it’s a great place to get away from it all… without being too far from it all.
And those beautiful sunsets don’t exactly hurt, either.
Your Own Private Beach Club
From the Bukit to Pererenan, Bali’s coastline is dotted with fabulous beach clubs. The Beach Villa Cemagi is strategically positioned for enjoying these chic spots to the fullest, with venues like La Brisa, Finns and Como all within a 30-minute drive.
Then again, you might be tempted to skip those hot spots altogether and stay in instead. Hidden at the end of a long lush garden, the villa’s outdoor living area features a fabulous living and dining bale (complete with a sound system and coloured led lighting), a sleek sun deck and of course, a long and sumptuous swimming pool with direct views of the beach. There’s even a cool rooftop terrace that’s perfect for sundowners.
In short, staying here feels like having your own private beach club. It’s fitting really, as the villa was originally designed by Fredo Taffin, the same architect who designed Ku De Ta – arguably the most iconic beach club in Bali.
