A picture speaks a thousand words – and there is nothing quite like these picture-perfect Bali locales to remind us just how much we’re missing the Island of the Gods. These are the most Instagrammed spots in Bali.

The Bali Swing

It’s brilliant really: take a stunning, jaw-dropping jungle setting, add a swing and hey, presto – you’ve got yourself one of the most photographed spots in Bali. The Bali Swing has become nothing short of iconic and has spawned a whole plethora of copycat swings dotted across this fair island. The views from the original swing are gorgeous and the photos have become iconic – but it’s definitely for the faint of heart!

Kelingking Beach

If you have spent any time on Instagram researching an upcoming trip to Bali, you will undoubtably have seen a picture Kelingking Beach pop up in your feed. This striking rock formation is located on the petite island of Nusa Penida, one of the three Nusa islands scattered just off the coast of Bali (Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan are also culturally and administratively a part of Bali). The Kelingking Beach cliff has been nicknamed T Rex – can you see the resemblance?

Campuhan Ridge

The Campuhan Ridge Walk is easily one of the most scenic walks in Bali. A narrow pathway winding through cascading rice fields, Campuhan offers dreamy views straight out of Eat Pray Love. The ridge walk is best experienced in the early mornings when it’s not too hot – and the light hits those misty hills just right.

Wanagiri Hidden Hill

Wanagiri Hidden Hill is a true 21st century creation – a purpose-built, fully fledged selfie destination! Located in scenic North Bali looking over Lake Buyan, this park features beautifully designed wicker nests and statues, all designed to create the perfect photo op – and the trend has certainly caught on (Wanagiri also has its own very own Bali swing, with views looking over the lake)! When exploring #Bali on social media, you can’t help but come across beautiful images captured at Wanagiri. So head up north and strike a pose!

Lempuyang Temple

Lempuyang Temple has long been one of the most photographed spots in Bali. You’ve undoubtably seen the image in its countless, yet nearly identical variations: a single traveler or a love struck couple perfectly poised between dramatic Balinese gates, commonly referred to as the “gates of heaven”, their image perfectly reflected in the pond below. But here is the catch: there is no pond. As a Tweet gone viral revealed in 2019, the “pond” is actually a cleverly positioned mirror placed under the camera. Yet another reminder not to believe everything you see on social media!

Tegalalang Rice Fields

The Tegalalang Rice Fields are one of the OG photo spots in Bali – and for good reason. It’s hard to think of more iconic views than these lush green terraced rice paddies cascading into the distance. To be sure, the paddies have become a very popular place for snapping photos and can get crowded (or did before the pandemic) – but really, seeing all the excitement on the faces of your fellow ‘Grammers (and posing with the now-famous “Tegalalang Man”) is all part of the fun.

Ocean Swings

Ok, so these swings (and yes, that’s swings, plural) are actually located on the Gili Islands instead of Bali, but as countless travellers incorporate a stint to the Gilis into their Bali itinerary, we thought this would be an appropriate addition. Back in the day, the Hotel Ombak swing used to be the one and only over-water swing on Gili Trawangan (the largest of the three islands), but nowadays, countless imitation swings have been erected along the shoreline, so take your pick! You’ll find the original, Ombak swing on Gili T’s more quiet western shores.

Pura Ulun Danu Bratan

This beautiful lakeside temple has become one of the most recognisable images of Bali, displayed far and wide in adverts and blogs posts detailing the unique beauty of the island. Pura Ulun Danu Beratan is located on Lake Bratan in North Bali, with the stunning temple complex appearing to float on water.
