2020 and its sequel have brought out the baker and home cook in all of us. And so, about elbow deep in dough, we got to thinking about all the ways we could upgrade our own kitchen to really up our sourdough game. So here we go: these villa kitchens are the definition of #goals!

Sleek and Modern

We’re loving the sharp modern look in these kitchens. The open-plan layout is an ongoing trend, as are the beautiful marble island countertops. An easy way to change up your kitchen décor is to update the lighting – we love the copper lanterns in Villa Malouna, as well as the industrial style lighting in The River House.

Modern with a Boho Twist

These kitchens offer an irresistible modern take on the bohemian trend. The bare bones of each kitchen are fresh and modern, while subtle choices in textures and accessories add some bohemian flavour. Woven lanterns do the job in Villa Asi, while Mandala the House ups the ante with its beautiful, open shelves. We also love the idea of adding some tropical greenery into your kitchen décor – though having an actual palm tree sprouting through the floor might be difficult the achieve at home, wouldn’t you say?

Eclectic Chic

Let’s mix and match! In a sea of sleek monochrome interiors, these villas add a welcome dose of fun and colour into the mix. Villa 1880 starts with a minimalist white base and makes it unique with green velvet bar stools in the show kitchen (perfect for a cooking class with the in-house chef!) and the bright yellow cabinetry and Moroccan tiles in the chef’s kitchen. In Villa Sayang D’Amour, the kitchen echoes the villa’s romantic décor which draws inspiration from exotic India. A special shoutout to the pop art-inspired “Happy” breakfast table in Villa Belya which offers a fun contrast to the villa’s no no-nonsense kitchen.

White on White on White

Ok, so this beautiful design aesthetic might not be the most practical one – imagine whipping up a huge pot of marinara sauce in this all white setting? Yikes. But even against our best judgement, we’ll keep dreaming about reigning over a luminous white kitchen of our own… if only for the photo ops.

Leave it to the Pros

When it’s time to bring out the big guns, you need a kitchen that can handle the heat. Many villas which cater to weddings and event feature full-on, commercial grade kitchens – Villa Vedas has a professional chef’s kitchen tucked behind the show kitchen which also comes with two ovens, two wine fridges, a coffee machine, teppanyaki grill and gas wok burner. Villa Sayang D’Amour’s kitchen comes with imported French appliances complemented by custom-made fittings and a beautiful collection of tableware. And if you’re a really serious gourmand: Villa Conti comes with three kitchens (yes, three), including a professional grade kitchen that’s designed for some heavy duty cooking.

Cooking with a View

And the award for the most scenic kitchen goes to… If you need a little added inspiration while cooking, how about enjoying these views overlooking Lake Wanaka in New Zealand while chopping those tomatoes or sautéing that onion? This look might be a tad challenging to replicate at home – but hey, we can always dream, right?
