Built on the lush hills of southern Lombok, Tampah Hills estate offers epic panoramas of the ocean from every villa. While the setting is stunning in its own right, the allure of Tampah Hills runs far deeper.
Tampah Hills offers a unique concept fusing the best parts of private villa living with a communal resort experience. That the resort is a passion project is evident throughout. Great emphasis has been put on sustainability and Tampah Hills employs its own reforestation team. Nearly half of the estate has been designated as a no build zone, thus preserving both the views and the environment. Some 20,000 trees have already been planted on the premises. Rain water and blackwater is collected, recycled and then used to water the estate’s gardens. A separate solar energy plant is also currently in the works.

Tampah Hills allows guest to enjoy sweet seclusion in their private villa while also providing communal areas to mingle with likeminded travellers. The concept is the antithesis of a gated community. The growing estate features large park areas and community gardens, with restaurants, sports facilities and co-working areas all coming to life.
Tampah Hills Villas
The Tampah Hills estate is home to private standalone villas, each one offering luxurious privacy and sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. Though all villas pair sustainable values with decadent barefoot luxury, each villa is unique in its design and furnishings. All villas are completely self-contained and private and come with all the amenities you could ask for, including generous living and dining areas and private swimming pools.
Each villa at Tampah Hills has been uniquely designed by a leading architect, including GFAB Architects, Alexis Dornier, Hadiprana and Alejandro Borrego. Villa Kami is a three-bedroom villa, while House of Herring, Villa Jati and Villa Solah feature four bedrooms each. Though each villa is singular in its design, they all share a few key elements. Every villa comes with a vast private swimming pool, elegant living and dining areas and a full kitchen. Needless to say, they all enjoy stunning views gazing over Lombok island and the Indian Ocean stretching out in the distance. While you might come for the views, you’ll stay for the unique spirit of Tampah Hills which is unlike anywhere else in the world.
House of Herring
House of Herring was designed by the prestigious GFAB Architects. This cutting-edge villa features impressive design elements and an innovative mix of materials, all framed by stunning panoramas of the Indian Ocean. The villa features beautiful living and dining areas and a jaw-dropping infinity pool which includes a generous shallow section. All four bedrooms are housed upstairs and fronted by full wall glass, ensuring spectacular ocean views before even getting out of bed.

The stunning angular design of Villa Kami blends beautifully with the surrounding landscape. This large and lavish villa features a seductive infinity pool framed by extensive terraces, all opening to breathtaking views of the island and the ocean glimmering in the distance. There’s also a shallow pool that’s perfect for kids or relaxed hangouts. The elegantly designed living and dining areas are made for relaxed get-togethers and fittingly, the villa’s name means “Our Villa” in Indonesian. Villa Kami is a four-bedroom villa. Three bedrooms are furnished with king-sized beds and one bedroom comes with two sets of bunk beds.

The beautiful Villa Jati draws inspiration from the surrounding nature. Built on an enviable elevation, the villa’s effortless design makes the most of natural light and ventilation. Decorated in calm modern tones with touches of natural wood and rattan, Villa Jati exudes relaxed tropical elegance. The private infinity pool is flanked by a shallow section that can be used as a kiddie pool or a chill-out zone for the grownups. The sunken lounge area by the pool is perfect for marvelling at the views. Villa Jati features three bedrooms. Two of the rooms interconnect and share a bathroom, while the third bedroom offers an exclusive sense of privacy slightly removed from the main house.

Tampah Hills is located on the southern coastline of Lombok, Indonesia. Lombok is famed for its stunning beaches, epic surf breaks and lush natural scenery and offers a more relaxed setting compared to its famous neighbour, Bali. The two islands are connected through a short 40-minute flight or a leisurely 90-minute boat ride. Tampah Hills is located in southern Lombok where the estate occupies a beautiful hillside plot. The villa estate features large park areas and community gardens and will also feature restaurants, co-working spaces and sports facilities. What’s more, the estate is fronted by the beautiful Tampah Beach which is never more than a few minutes away.

The villas are all absolutely stunning, and the restaurants offer delicious meals (breakfast at Biras is simply extraordinary!).

Pure luxury in breathtaking villas
We came as part of a work group and rented several villas at Tampa Hills. I had the chance to see quite a few of them, but I stayed in Villa Kala — and honestly, every single one is exceptional. This is true luxury living. The staff are incredibly attentive, everything is spotless, and there’s even a buggy service to take you from one villa to another, to the nearby restaurant for breakfast, or to your excursions.
The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the level of comfort and care is outstanding. I’m a frequent traveler, and I’ve rarely seen villas this beautiful and well-maintained.
A special mention to Zakaria, who was our concierge during the week — he truly went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Thank you for taking such great care of us!
